Martial Arts Technique - Jodan Uke

Martial Arts Technique - Jodan Uke
Start by directing your left arm at the Uke Jodan position.
Hold your right arm at a position 45 degrees to the head, your palms facing your face with your fist at a distance of about 10 inches from your head. Keeping the shoulders in a normal position and relax. Right arm was in a position ready to tuck under your shoulders, forearms parallel to the floor, palms facing up.
Bring your right arm at the crossing to the movement. At the same time bringing your left arm down at your face, back to the ready position. Complete right arm circular motion, bringing the arms down and palms facing forward, so that the "rolling" attack on the head. This completes the top right of the block (jodan Uke). Your left arm is now ready to make the left jodan Uke blocks.

Upper Block - Points to consider:

* The two arms work in motion action reaction, which means that as one strong move in one direction the other equally strong move in another direction.
* Weapons should be crossed at about eye level.
* Both arms should move in a circular motion so that circumvent strong attack from the meeting with force.
* At the time of the impact of the arms and hands should be locked with tension position.
* The blocking arm should have a second 45-degree angle toward the floor and toward the line of attack, ie. splitting attack the head with a stick (or a baseball bat!) would slide to the side and past your cut off your arm instead of two.
* In order to get maximum power you need to have such a good attitude or Sanchin Dachi Heiko Dachi.
* Breathe in the downward movement and exhale on locking the block into position.
